Africa International House (AIH) salutes NBC5 Anchor Warner Saunders and 4th Ward Alderman Toni Preckwinkle as the Grand Baba and Grand Yeye of the 2008 Chrysler Financial African Festival of the Arts.
Each year, AIH bestows this title on elders within our community for enriching all of our lives by supporting arts and culture. Past recipients have included Jacob Carruthers, historian and social activist; Garth Fagan, founder and artistic director of Garth Fagan Dance; Chuck Bowen, former Cook County Commissioner; and Emil Jones, president of the Illinois Senate.

Warner Saunders is co-anchor of the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. He is considered by many of his peers to be the most versatile performer in the history of Chicago television. Mr. Saunders is the winner of 20 Emmys for news, sports, documentaries, children's programs, conversation talk shows and community town meetings.

Toni Preckwinkle is an alderman in the Chicago City Council representing Chicago's 4th ward in. Alderman Preckwinkle was elected to office in 1991 and has subsequently been re-elected four times. In addition to her elected role on the city council, Preckwinkle serves as the Democratic Committeeman of the 4th Ward of the city on the Cook County Central Committee.
